Green Flag

Ms. Halford our school S.N.A. and 5th class have been busy planting pansies in the school garden adjacent to our outdoor classroom area.

As part of national tree day junior infants planted a larch tree in their school garden plot. They will watch this grow over the years they spend in Scoil Mhuire Mount Sackville.

Scoil Mhuire has received  a set of “Climate SOS” books which teachers are using with their classes at present. Some senior classes are also attending a Climate SOS webinar in conjunction with SEAI.

Scoil Mhuire is very proud of their 6 Green School flags and is now working towards the 7th Green School flag on Global Diversity and Energy. Our theme for this year is “Do the world a favour. Be an energy saver!” Our Green school committee led by Ms. Gray and Ms. Lawlor are working very hard with all the pupils on this theme. Energy and water monitors from various classes diligently monitor the whole school daily for water and energy usage. There will be a Green School energy workshop taking place in the school on March 6th.

Scoil Mhuire had a green school energy workshop from an SEAI representative on Friday March 6th based on the theme of Global citizenship and energy. This was most informative for children and teachers.
