Dear Parents/Guardians,I hope this message finds you all safe and well. I am happy to let you all know that we have been given the go ahead by the Department of Education and Skills to reopen the school on Monday next, 1st March for classes from Junior infants to 2nd. This is really good news. Please know that school staff will be particularly patient with the children as we understand that they have been away from the school setting for two months. We will do our best to catch up on any missed work – great efforts were made by parents and children during digital learning. I would like to thank you for this. I also want to thank all of my colleagues at Scoil Mhuire Mount Sackville for their very hard work during this difficult time – their service to the children has been excellent. To keep the school open in the long term, we will need your continued cooperation in three key areas:
- Please do not send your child to school if they are ill, particularly if they are showing any of the signs of Covid-19. Please consult with your doctor immediately and follow their advice. Please know that you will be contacted if your child becomes ill at school and that arrangements for collection will be made. There will be no exceptions to this.
- Adults should wear a mask when you come inside the school gates – this sets a great example and helps keep us all safe. Please encourage others to follow this measure. Children are not required to wear face masks when at school.
- Please do not delay when dropping off and collecting your child. We cannot facilitate parents staying in the yard at any time. This was very successful for the first term and we had great cooperation from the school community.
For our first day back, children can bring back in their school books/equipment that were sent home. We will quarantine them in school before using them once more. We ask parents to ensure that children don’t bring in any toys from home. This measure worked really well in the first term thanks to help from our parents and the children too. Any family/child who may be returning from foreign travel must quarantine before they return to school. It is best for any families affected by this regulation to let us know immediately. Lastly, prior to return, a “Return to School Declaration” should be completed for each child. Teachers will upload this to Seesaw tomorrow. Parents need to fill it out, digitally sign it and send it back to your child’s teacher via Seesaw by Friday, 26th February. I also attach one to this email which you can upload to Seesaw. Please note that our remote learning will continue for 3rd -6th class as normal with Seesaw and Zoom until the DES allow these pupils to return to school. I thank you in advance for your co-operation and support. I look forward to welcoming the pupils from Junior infants to 2nd class on Monday. I hope you and all your family continue to stay safe and well in the meantime.
Kind Regards,
Ms. o’ Kelly
