Student Council News

The new student council for 2022-2023 has been elected and is already embarking on its first venture. They are organising a poster competition for anti-bullying week next week to promote positive values and friendships in the school. In Scoil Mhuire Mount Sackville we are very fortunate to have such a close knit school community. We always strive to promote positive values and friendships amongst our pupils. Our pupils engage in stay safe, walk tall and Webwise lessons on anti-bullying each year also.

The student council has been a positive influence on the school since its inception in 2021, allowing the voice of pupils to be heard. The council came up with the idea of an intercultural day for June 24th 2022 where pupils celebrated the different cultures and traditions in the school. This was a wonderful collaboration between pupils, staff and parents. Pupils visited all the different country displays in the school hall which were set up by pupils and organized by the student council and Ms. O’ Malley.   Parents dropped in food for the various tables also. The classes really enjoyed learning about all the different cultures and tasting the food from each country display. It was a very successful first initiative for the student council. We look forward to more wonderful initiatives with the student council next year.
