Dear Parents,
I hope you and all your families are keeping safe and well at this time. It is hard to believe but we have almost reached the date of our summer holidays already. I want to thank you for your engagement with weekly work sheets and Seesaw over the past few months in what were very difficult circumstances for all families. I also want to thank you for your kindness and support in what has been a very difficult few months for the whole school community.
Last night was the 6th class graduation evening and a first virtual graduation evening for Scoil Mhuire. Congratulations to all the 6th class girls and their parents. It was a lovely evening and special thanks to Ms. Flannery for organising it. It was lovely to see the girls share their memories from over the years and look at photos of all the wonderful times they had in Scoil Mhuire. I have no doubt that they will go on to do great things in life.
The Board of Management has met this week and discussed the reopening of the school in September. Contingencies and arrangements for the new school year were foremost in our discussions. It will be necessary for all schools nationwide to make big organisational changes in light of the ongoing public health situation. In the case of Scoil Mhuire this will include minimising contact across and between groups.Schools are still awaiting further guidelines from the Department of Education and Skills but it is envisaged that a full return to school may be possible. The Board has decided that health and safety of all children, staff and parents is a priority. As part of these health and safety concerns it has been decided that no pre or after school classes will run in the school for the first term. This will include the pre and after school care service run by Siobhan Byrne. The board appreciates that this will be a disappointment to many of you. However I am sure everyone understands the health and safety obligations that the board holds. All will be reviewed by the board at the end of the first school term again.
Thank you to all those who sent in their video clips for the “It’s a beautiful day” song. If anyone has not sent in their clip and would still like to do so you can still send it in to the school email up to Monday evening. I hope to put the video on the website for Tuesday, the day Scoil Mhuire closes for school holidays.
I thank you again for your kindness and support over the school year. It has been greatly appreciated. I will be in touch as soon as the Department of Education and Skills issue us with specific guidelines for our return to school and the board of management has a chance to review them. I hope you all have a lovely summer and continue to keep safe and well.
Kind Regards,
Ms. O’ Kelly
