We made the most of our beautiful location and our scooting sessions were all based in the Phoenix Park. We were really lucky to get a run of dry weather but it wouldn’t have dampened our spirits anyway!
Active Week was packed with an array of different activities from Twirl to cricket, dance parties to obstacle courses and outdoor games! We kept busy and active and we didn’t stop moving! It was fantastic.
In September, we enjoyed ‘Table Tennis Takeover’ time!
Our active school flag committee’s first role was to run a slogan competition. The winning slogan was;
“We’re sporty, we’re cool. We’re Mount Sackville school”
The girls dusted off their skipping ropes on January 27th to take part in a whole school challenge. They even did jumping jacks too reaching all sorts of peaks including Ben Nevis!
Ms Donohoe organised a Pump Up The Volume dance challenge for the school on February 24th. Everyone had a blast and danced their socks off!
Throughout the day on April 28th, all the pupils of Scoil Mhuire got to play table tennis. We would like to extend a huge thank you to the Active School Flag programme for gifting the school with table tennis sets. The girls loved it!
Sarah Hawshaw returned to her old school campus and called in to Scoil Mhuire. She is an inspiration to many of our pupils & our Leinster Champions from Sixth Class even got a photo with her.
Ms Donohoe put together a fantastic activity-packed week which took place from the 21st to 26th of May.
Each day had a theme and a challenge to try out.
Monday- Soccer
Castleknock Celtic FC came in to do sessions with each class & in the afternoon the ‘Teachers Vs Pupils’ penalty shoot out took place.
Tuesday Thursday, our ‘Sports for All’ day took place.
Tuesday- Cycling Day/ Sarah Hawkshaw visit
Everyone could bring in their bikes and scooters (and helmets of course) to use in the yard.
Hockey superstar Sarah Hawkshaw visited the pupils in the hall and signed autographs as well as imparting her advice to our pupils for playing hockey.
Wednesday- Handball
A coach came in from the GAA to teach all the pupils how to play handball!
Thursday- Sports Day
Friday- Dance Day
Every class got to perform a dance they had been working on in the run up to this event. Check out our Twitter feed to see the results!
We all did Rock the Boat in the yard to round out the day.
The senior classes trained two to three times a week during lunch in preparation for the race meets in Porterstown and Santry.
The early meets took place on the 7th & 21st of March.
The final meet in Santry took place on 26th April.
The Sixth Class have just finished the Soccer World Cup tournament. The winners were… China!🏆
What a great way to end the year for our most senior class.
The winning team is pictured below with our principal; Ms Caragh Sugrue & Ms Donohoe, who is our Active School coordinator.
