Scoil Mhuire Mount Sackville is delighted to inform you that this year all of 5th class will be taking part in the national children’s choir. This is a wonderful musical opportunity for the girls.
The National Children’s Choir is a school-based choral experience for primary school children. Affiliated pupils from a senior class in Irish Primary Schools learn a common repertoire of songs that more than satisfies many objectives of the music programme at the senior end of the primary school.
The children learn the repertoire in their own schools, taught by their own teachers, and join with other local schools three times a year to rehearse these songs with one of the national children’s choir assistant musical directors.
Every child will participate in a wonderful concert in the National Basketball arena, Tallaght in April (date to be confirmed yet) and a percentage of these children randomly selected by NCC will perform in the National Concert Hall at the end of May (date to be confirmed yet) under the baton of the national children’s choir musical directors.
The girls are looking forward to starting in on their repertoire over the next few weeks. We look forward to them performing for the school as well at various occasions during the school year.
Our school choir also sing at various events throughout the year including Christmas recitals and sacramental celebrations.
