School Quiz team

Congratulations to our school quiz team who represented the school in the Blanchardstown and District credit union quiz on February 11th last. It was lovely to see the collaboration between 5th&6th classes and the wonderful team spirit of the girls. Thank you to Ms. Clifford and Ms. Flannery for all their hard work and the parents for their wonderful support.

Voluntary Contributions

Thank you to those who have already made a voluntary contribution to the school. The school really appreciates your generous contributions and they are invaluable in ensuring that the school environment is well maintained, warm, welcoming and conducive to learning.

Seachtain na Gaeilge

Seachtain na Gaeilge is running all over Ireland from March 1st-17th. At Scoil Mhuire we will be making an extra effort to be “ag caint as Gaeilge” during this time. We would encourage parents to also make an extra effort during Seachtain na Gaeilge to encourage their children to use “cúpla focal” at home. We will also be having a céilí  in the hall and a ceolchoirm in the convent for the nuns. Further information about Seachtain na Gaeilge is available online at www.snag.ie

Science Blast Fair

6th class are representing the school at the Science Blast Fair in the RDS on Monday, 2nd March. They are currently carrying out investigations on the relationship between exercise and heart rate in their project titled “How far to fitness?” Thank you to Ms. Flannery and all the 6th class girls for all their hard work and enthusiasm.

Wellbeing Week

Scoil Mhuire is holding a wellbeing week from March 9th-12th as part of its effort to promote positive mental health and wellbeing amongst its pupils. There will be lots of activities during this week including mindfulness, yoga, and mandala day. The Amber flag committee will be organising lots of the acitivites for the week to promote this year’s special value of “value yourself”. Thank you to Ms. Donohoe and the amber flag committee for organising the wear pink/red day on Feb 14th for Pieta house charity. A wonderful €436.85 was raised by the school community. Thank you to all the parents for their support.

World Book Day

World book Day is celebrated on March 5th this year. To celebrate world book day in Scoil Mhuire children are allowed to dress up as their favourite character from a book they have read. Children will tell their class about their favourite character and the book it came from. At Scoil Mhuire we would encourage parents to read to their children at home regularly from a young age and encourage independent reading also. Local libraries are a wonderful source of free reading materials for children which can be accessed easily. Each child will receive a €1.50 book token on world book day which can be used in all bookshops.

Green School Energy Workshop

A green school energy workshop will be held on March 6th for junior infants, 3rd&5th in connection with our theme for this year and next year “Global Citizenship and Energy”. The Green school committee will also be holding a clean up day in the final term in the school grounds. Thank you to Ms. Gray, Ms. Lawlor and all the Green School committee girls for their hard work on this.

The active school committee are working hard to ensure all the school are keeping active in Scoil Mhuire with class busy breaks, daily mile and  lunchtime skipping. Parents are encoutaged to do the active homework with their child each week. A sponsored school walk will also take place after Easter on April 24th as part of the active school initiative. Thank you to Ms. O’ Connor and the active school committee girls for all their hard work.
